Competition Kitchen: A Deliciously Creative Party Game

Created by The Nerdologues

Competition Kitchen is the new deliciously creative party game from The Nerdologues. Imagine if you could play "Chopped" at home; but instead of food, you have cards, and instead of pots and pans, you have your words and imagination. Three to seven players compete to emerge as the top chef at the table!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Knock knock knocking on Heaven’s Door

Scratch that. Knock knocking knocking on YOUR DOOR.

That’s right! Competition Kitchen is on its way to your front door RIGHT NOW. You’ve probably seen an email from BLACKBOX (https://www.blackbox.cool/) by now.

Here’s three things you need to know:

1. Games are on their way! Keep an eye out on your email inbox, and your mail box, and any other box you may have just for the heck of it.

2. We’ve sent along all of the special orders as well. If you ordered a special box, or secret ingredient card, they’re on the way. Some people have already received them and their feedback has been great! Let us know what you think when you get yours! @thefoodgame on Twitter

3. We launched a website! If you (or your friends) want more copies of the game, (maybe say for some huge gift-giving event within the next two months) you can purchase them straight from us here: www.competition.kitchen

Our website was designed by our dear friend Patrick Lothian. You can check out more of his work here: (http://trueeastmedia.com/

We’ll be looking to get some copies up on Amazon; we’ll also be working on getting games listed other great places, too. We’re always open to your feedback and leads! Drop us a line at [email protected]

Thanks again for supporting the game, and we hope you get to enjoy playing soon! Bon appetit, chefs!

Howdy shipmates! We have updates for you.

1. All of the games have been printed with our printer, Ad Magic. We’ve managed to get a very small handful of advance copies, and we couldn’t be happier with how they came out!

2. The games are on a cargo ship somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. If possible, we’re asking that they keep an eye out for Oceanic flight 815 - and to explicitly STAY AWAY from Skull Island.

3. We expect the games to get to the warehouses about October 11th. From there, it should be pretty quick to your doorstep!

4. Logistics are fun and easy and never stressful.

Start The Presses!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Aug 02, 2017 at 10:47:54 PM

It’s been awhile since we talked - to our Northern Hemisphere friends: how’s your summer been? To any in the southern part of the globe, keep warm and eat soup!

What have we been up to? We’re off to the races!

1. We’re excited to announce that we sent all of the files for the game off to AdMagic for printing! As soon as the games are all printed and boxed up, they will be sea-freighted to us, and then shipped out to you via Blackbox! We’re truly excited to get these to you. The current timeline is that they will be shipped to us in early October, and right now we’re getting estimates from us to you. We’ll keep you posted! Shipping and manufacturing internationally is really hard. Thanks for your patience with us!

2. The Print and Play PDF is available for download! Everyone that backed the campaign (and that has filled out their backer surveys via Backerkit) will be receiving a notification that they can download the game on Backerkit! If you haven’t yet filled out your Backerkit survey, now is a great time to do so. If you talked with one of us about picking your copy up/having it hand-delivered, just touch base with us directly!

We’re here for you -- if you need any old thing drop us a line at [email protected]

Bonus: we’ve been hearing from folks about how much fun they’ve been having with the print and play copy, and we’re geeking out about it! Keep letting us know how it’s going! @thefoodgame on Twitter!

Things are Heating Up!

Hi pals! We’ve been hard at work! Thanks again for helping us close the campaign in such an amazing fashion. A few updates for you: Surveys! We’re sending out surveys to everyone via Backerkit.

1. We’ll be asking for your mailing address and email address. We’ll need those things to send you a copy of the game in the mail, and a pdf copy of the game to your inbox.

2. Art Art Art! We’ve been updating some of the art on the game, and making minor tweaks to our copy. We’re very excited for everyone to see the final versions of the cards and box!

3. A brand new contributor! We’re excited to announce that Chef Richard Blais has jumped on board and is contributing some secret ingredients to the game. Here’s a sneak peak of two of his cards:

Goal Reached - But We're Not Done Yet!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 10, 2017 at 08:15:23 PM

Hi friends!  It's been a while since we talked - but that's because we've been so busy!

Thank you to everybody who has supported Competition Kitchen!  Through your interest and advocacy, we've reached our funding goal this week!  Not only that, but we are currently blowing it out of the water!

At the time of this writing, we're looking at contributions of more than $28,000 - that's 188% of our $15,000 goal!

Are we happy?  Yes, of course, we're thrilled!  Are we satisfied?  Call us Angelica and Alexander, because we will never be satisfied.  As long as this campaign is open, we're trying to get this game in front of everybody we can in hopes that they like it as much as you did.

So please continue to get the word on Competition Kitchen out - the more we earn right now, the more games we can get printed, and the less expensive we can make each unit.  The more funding we receive now, the stronger we can come out the gate with this awesome game!

So what else have we been up to?

New Box Art:
We’re happy to show off some new box art to everyone, fresh from artist Kevin Budnik! Check it out!

This is about what all of your boxes will look like (unless you chose to get the custom box art).

Watch, Listen, and Read:

WGN Radio - Pretty Late with Patti Vasquez - We hopped onto the radio and played some Competition Kitchen live on the air. It was a blast! Give it a listen.

We also dropped into The Download with Justin Kaufmann and had a lot of fun playing "The Worst."

The One Shot Podcast with James D’Amato - Dear friend of The Nerdologues, James D’Amato runs an incredible show. He hosts both a podcast and a stream. So we jumped in on the stream and played Competition Kitchen. It was a blast. If you want to see the game played live, check it out!

Livestream Preview with AbdallahSmash - We also had the great opportunity to hangout with renowned YouTuber and Nintendo brand ambassador Abdallah to preview the game and talk about our campaign!

Beyond the Board podcast - Kevin dropped in to chat with Mike & Spencer about our game, storytelling, and Top Chef.

A lovely write-up from Dice Tower News!

What Comes Next:

We're going to try to close out these last 48 hours strong.  Tonight we're going to be at Maria's in Bridgeport, if you're local to Chicago.  Other than that, expect us to continue to flood social media until Friday afternoon!

Question of the Day:

Was there any food as a kid that you could just not get enough of?

Reply on the comments of our campaign to tell us about it!
